Experience

Express Sewing

In 2020, I began working in a military alterations shop called Express Sewing. During my time here I sewed men’s ranks, badges, and repairs, both on Juki machine and by hand. I also learned how to operate an embroidery machine and picked up the basics of how to alter women’s clothing, primarily bridesmaid and prom dresses.

David’s Bridal

That same year in 2020, I also got hired at David’s Bridal. My love for alterations quickly grew as I am now working one on one with real brides, helping them prepare for their special day. Each dress I work on is completely unique to the customer, telling it’s own story and inspiring me everyday. The skills I’ve learned here have made me so much more confident as a seamstress and the feeling I get when seeing a bride light up in a dress that I’ve altered to fit perfect is incredibly rewarding.

The Bridal Collection

After 1 year at Express Sewing and 3 years at David’s Bridal, I got hired to work as an in house seamstress with The Bridal Collection. It’s here that I got to grow my technical skill and advance to working on more couture level dresses. Working with TBC allowed me to not only learn more complicated alteration techniques but also gave me the opportunity to meet face to face with designers whose dresses I would be working on. Designers like Justin Alexander (pictured), Hayley Paige, Colby John, and Maggie Sottero are among the many brands that I have experience altering. Though I am now an independent contractor, the majority of my appointments are done through TBC as part of their wonderful alterations team.
